Patterns

We do custom designing and printing of patterns. The following shows you in simple steps what we do and how we do it. We can do it for you as well. Email us for a quote for a custom project you’ve wanted to do, but haven’t been able to because you couldn’t get the help you needed.

Our fee is $45.00/hour plus the actual cost of printing out the final full sized copy if requested, or we can send you the finished pattern on a disk (CD) and you can have it printed out at a local graphics store. We will provide you with a total cost estimate before we begin any work. There are no hidden charges.

Pattern Design-Step One This is a copy of a 17th century Japanese woodblock print we wanted to render in glass.
Pattern Design-Step Two First we scan the picture, sketch, or outline into the computer and refine the portion you want to become the working pattern. We can add, modify and make any changes you want to include.
Pattern Design-Step Three We then remove the picture proper from the screen and have the basic pattern.
Pattern Design-Step Four We then prepare the pattern for work and number each piece
Pattern Design-Step Five The basic color scheme you give us is applied and if you like it, we then move on to the next step which is the fun part.
Pattern Design-Step Six Next the actual glass colors from the manufacturers are applied. At present we have the almost complete glass files for Spectrum, Kokomo, Uroboros and Youghiogheny. When we did the lady, we used Spectrum with the exception of a small piece of Uroboros for the hair piece on top of the lady’s head and the scoop of the ladle which was scrap from somewhere and we wish we could find more.
Pattern Design-Final Results This is a photograph of the finished 24″x36″ window. Compare it to the above picture. You can have the same accuracy in every project you do.
